Eye Care
Our eyes are robust, but not indestructible.
We’ve complied some tips on how to keep your eyes looking their best for this project and those yet to come.
UV Light
Our eyes should never be exposed to UV light, especially sunlight for long periods of time.
UV light will yellow the resins that makeup our eyes and this damage cannot be undone.
Cleaning
During builds, eyes can become dirty. Washing with warm soap and water will remove most buildups.
For a tougher to remove residues, like un-cured silicone, apply a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to a soft rag and wipe away the residue.
Polishing
Overtime with handling, exposure to chemicals and residues, your eyes’ shine may dull slightly. This can be easily resolved by polishing on a buffing wheel with a soft, cotton wheel and fine polish compound.
Our eyes can also be polished on buffing wheels to bring a proper shine back to the surface.
Eyes can't come out?
If your eyes are already in your piece and cannot come out due to lashed lids or the eye is sealed in tight, spray Crystal Clear into a cup to produce a liquid that you can apply with a brush.
Note that this may cause brush strokes to form in the coat, depending on the speed in which the coating dries.
Always use proper protection and only in a well ventilated area.
Use this method as a last resort and at your discretion.
Eyes that are damaged using this method are not eligible for replacement.
